The 2021 Barolo Pira Vecchie Viti is a wild, crazy wine. Roagna makes their flagship Barolo from the oldest vines here, planted in 1937. Ordinarily, one might expect that to yield a wine of added textural depth and power. Here, though, the expression is one of stunning aromatic intensity and nuance. Time in the glass brings out the wine's textural richness and inner perfume.
