This lieu-dit Santenay is very smart indeed. Vivid ruby in the glass, the nose is impressive and holds lively red fruits, subtle wood spice, crunchy dried herbs and lifted cherry blossom all in one. Expansive but not heavy on the palate, the fruit fills out over lightly pithy, ripe tannins to create a satin-like texture and pure flavour profile. There is a crunch and depth as this builds in the glass, but it remains fine-boned and formed on that blossom-inflected fruit. The oak is subtle and integrated, and together with the fine tannins and expansive fruit makes this delicious to drink already. Cool, spicy, slick and long, this is a superb wine for the money. A serious Santenay that punches above its weight.
A bright mid ruby colour, with good energy to the cherry and red berry fruit. Juicy up front, adequate acidity, a little more depth of fruit while retaining William’s very refined style. Deliciously persistent. Drink from 2026-2030. Tasted Oct 2024.
